Bloody Mary Morning

Last night we had a fantastic time seeing Willie Nelson perform at the Vetter Stone Amphitheater in Mankato, MN. We scored an awesome spot to the side of the stage sitting in the grass, where we not only had a great view of Willie, but also of some of the shenanigans going on. The theater is riverfront, so there were lots of boats on the water listening to the concert, and apparently some chick tried to sneak into the back of the venue from the river and security caught her. Also saw an extremely intoxicated young man escorted out by the police (he was having a blast...but kind of falling all over the place) and watched as two other cops attempted to sniff out the source of the skunky smells going on. (Good luck!)

I even brought a stockinette shawl with me for the drive to Mankato, and I also knit through the whole performance. And after walking 2 miles roundtrip from/back to our car, I lost several pounds. Pretty awesome night!!

We didn't get home (after picking up the kiddo from grandma and grandpa) until almost 2 AM. Today is time for lots of caffeine and some relaxing projects!

I'm currently working on finishing up some long-term projects I really need to be DONE with. One is the Cable Sampler Afghan from Cables Untangled. I've finished all the blocks, and have one panel seamed up. Three more of these to seam, then I can seam them together and start knitting on the cable ribbed border. Today I'll be working on seaming another panel.

One seamed panel. Crocheted seams = love! No weird seam lines and a little extra stability.
A big 'ol pile of cable sampler blocks! (Those rolled up ones are 58" long, ya'll!!!)
I started this blanket in 2009, so it's beyond time for it to be finished.

The other long term project is a gorgeous Iain sweater I'm making for my dad. He is a really, seriously huge dude, so this sweater is too. This is the XXL size, calling for 5 skeins of Cascade Eco Wool. That's 2,390 yards of yarn, people!!

It's...getting there. The back is finished and I'm currently working on the v-neck decreases. Then onto saddle shoulders, arms, and the hood. Trying my bestest to have this done by Thanksgiving when we'll be going to visit SD.

TV remote for scale :)
Off to knit!
